Making the Journey from Culture Current to Culture Preferred: Learn about the Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI)

Participants will be introduced to the Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI) as a means to assess “culture current” and “culture preferred” in organizations of all kinds. Participants will be provided with a framework, a sense-making tool, a set of systematic steps, and a methodology to help managers and their organizations prepare for proactive organizational culture change. The OCAI, developed by professors Robert Quinn and Kim Cameron of the University of Michigan, has been used by more than 10,000 organizations worldwide and remains the most widely employed instrument of its kind today due to its practicality, efficiency, involving nature, quantitative and qualitative methodology, manageability, and reliability. Participants will complete a survey-of-one assessment on their own organization and map the results to gain familiarity with the instrument. Additional materials, including a set of facilitative questions to support the culture change, will be provided. A case study in which the OCAI was recently used will be discussed.
