Financial Basics for Talent Development Professionals

Whether making a pitch to a prospective consulting client, presenting a business case to an internal executive, or interviewing for a new job, having an understanding of financial fundamentals can be very beneficial.  Although forking out $100,000 for a top-notch MBA education will certainly guarantee a high level of financial acumen, it is entirely possible – with less time and for much less money – for talent development practitioners to gain comfort and confidence with information contained in corporate financial reports.  This meeting will provide an easily comprehensible overview of the two key statements companies use to communicate their financial performance – the income statement and the balance sheet.

During this meeting, participants will:

  • Understand how companies share financial information with various audiences
  • Review financial statements from actual companies
  • Perform basic calculations on selected financial data
  • Learn how to draw critical observations with even a minimal amount of analysis
