    What is Employee Learning Week?

Employee Learning Week is an awareness campaign highlighting the important connection between learning and achieving organizational results.

It's an opportunity to demonstrate your organization's commitment to workforce development. Tell ATD about your Employee Learning Week, and get recognized as a "Champion of Learning!"

    When is it?

Employee Learning Week typically takes place the first week of December. But, employee learning is a year round event!

    Where is it?

Employee Learning Week events can happen anywhere! Hold events in your office or plan a special off-site program.

    Why participate?

Training is more important now than ever before. The growing skills gap and increased need to compete in today's economy require organizations to develop a knowledgeable and highly skilled workforce.

    Who can participate?

All organizations are encouraged to recognize Employee Learning Week by rededicating themselves to employee learning.

    How do I participate?

Celebrating Employee Learning Week doesn't have to be a major undertaking. Here are some ideas:

    • Encourage employees to attend a course or program that will enhance their skills.
    • Hold an education fair or "lunch and learn" during the week to remind employees about training opportunities.
    • Send an email to employees each day of the week with a new learning tip.
    • Involve the CEO and senior executives in recognizing the value learning brings to the organization.
    • Submit a proclamation request to government officials within your community, city, or region to highlight your Employee Learning Week events and activities

Tell Us About Your Plan and Results

Step 1: Click here for additional details and an ATD toolkit to make participation even easier.

Invigorate your traditional instructional design with fresh e-learning techniques. Based on examples from organizations that have implemented successful virtual training, this program will provide you with the skills to develop individualized, asynchronous e-learning experiences that motivate learners to change their behavior. Learn to skillfully meet instructional design challenges in any industry and apply the principles of effective e-learning to individualized courses, tutorials, games, simulations and other e-learning modules.

Explore the essential e-learning components of context, challenge, activity, and feedback to elevate your success. In this program, you’ll discover the design elements of effective e-learning, investigate instructional interactivity that supports learning, practice applying these discoveries in designs, and learn to incorporate what works into your own projects. Please note that this program does not address issues of designing and delivering live, virtual instructor-led webinars, nor does it focus on specific software or tools.

    • Design e-learning that allows your learners to spend their time wisely and productively.
    • Use the unique capabilities of instructional technology to make each learning experience meaningful, memorable, and motivational.
    • Create learning experiences that change behavior well beyond a post-test.

After this program, you will be able to:

    • Apply the components of effective e-learning instructional design and learner motivation.
    • Describe how interactivity affects learning.
    • Examine how e-learning tools and trends can disguise the true learning challenge.
    • Orient e-learning towards behavioral-based outcomes instead of online information.
    • Use e-learning success prerequisites to improve programs.
    • Apply the steps of successive approximation for e-learning projects.
    • Apply the principles of effective e-learning navigation.
    • Evaluate e-learning programs and make recommendations for improvements.

This program takes place December 4-5, 2017. The workshop begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. each day.

        Why Story Telling?

There are powerful methods to engage learners through narrative, scenarios and stories to make it relatable to them. Stories and narrative give adult learners that crucial window into how the content is relevant to them, making them invested in the material. Enhancing performance is more complex than a 'PowerPoint on steroids' can provide and it's time to take eLearning to a new level of ROI and results through the incorporation of better content.

Topics include: why stories work, harvesting stories, narrative and case studies for eLearning, converting instructor-led training to eLearning using stories to the greatest effect, techniques for creating stories in a development tool, using videos to tell stories.

        In this webinar, we will:

Cover the topics and then leave time at the end for brainstorming on ways to wrap stories around your own topics!

        Our Presenter

Diane Senffner, M.Ed. is the CEO of Cine Learning Productions, a recognized leader in the field of eLearning and educational video. CHAPTER GROUP: 5 or More

It's nice see and know a familiar face in a big place.

When at least five ATD-Los Angeles Chapter members are attending the conference, we will qualify for a chapter team and can take advantage of the registration discount.

You don't need to travel or attend sessions together as a group, that's on your own. This option allows you an oppurtunity to meet and network with others from Los Angeles while getting a lower rate to enjoy the conference.

To add your name to the group list by clicking the Contact Us form at ATD-LA Office or call 562-908-3020 during standard regular business hours no later than April 3, 2018

Chapter teams will be established when at least five registrations from the chapter are received.
