This meeting led by Anthony Lewis, will prepare board members and volunteers with the critical information they need to actively and effectively exercise their roles and responsibilities within the bylaws and governance of the chapter. This meeting is part of the on-boarding process.

Welcome and introductions (10 minutes)
Participants introduce themselves. Time permitting; members give their professional/volunteer status, reason for joining the board, and any special experience, interests or skills.
Volunteering (10 minutes)
Discussion participation as a volunteer and as a Board member. Explain the ideal on boarding and transition processes.
Value of Membership (15 minutes)
Provide an overview of the demographics and interests of our members. Explain the levels of membership. Share the mission, vision and chapter of the chapter.
ATD National Chapter (20 minutes)
Brief overview of the leaders at the National Chapter and explain their roles. Explain the non-profit status and requirements for operation. Define the types of programs and governance that are available from the national chapter. As well as the partnership between National and LA Chapters.
Chapter Leader Resources (15 minutes)
Direct participants to the National resources and explain the local resources. Make the distinction about local support and partnerships.
Program Resources (15 minutes)
Explain the various types of programs that are offered for members, local businesses and LA Chapter: Chip, CPLP,
LA Chapter (20 minutes)
Brief summary of chapter history and mission statement, and bylaws. Summary of geographic area served and Strategic Plan goals and objectives. Review Organization Chart. Review of Board Officers, committees and meeting calendar, and Special Division.
Lasting Impressions (10 minutes)
Guidance for influencing and representing the chapter, and branding.
Open forum (5 minutes or remaining time)
Participants ask all questions.
